Blair Athol 3-some, and I realise I might not appreciate the beauty of Blair Athol

Blair Athol 2011/2013 12YO Refill HHD 52%, Whisky Broker UK.

Nose: Lemon skin, nuts, little dusty oak, and apparently I got some lemongrass notes. Alcohol is still pulling through, honey water and perfume.

Mouth: Cream, honey, sweet, nutty and floral with oak spice. Straight forward in the mouth.

Finish: nutty and oak with hints of honey linger at the back.

It is okay; there is nothing to fault at here and nothing to praise, too. An ok 12-year-old, Blair Athol, distillate driven in this case. Wood presence is not that strong, more distillate forward, if its your thing it would be 84 points! But not for me.

Nice scale: 81/100

-Distillate driven

-Well priced

Blair Athol 2014/2024 10YO 1st Fill Bourbon 56.6%, Lady of the Glen

2)Blair Athol 2014/2024 10YO 1st Fill Bourbon 56.6%, Lady of the Glen

Nose: Cream, floral, lots of fresh cream. Little rose-y body soap, peachy, gold coin chocolate.

Mouth: Floral, grass, cream custard with oak spice and mouth feel of soda water. Honey too. Dry soil (but not peat).

Finish: Towards the dry side, but only left a tiny bit of creaminess on top of your tongue. Some bitterness arrives; you have to oxidise a little more in this case. And floral x oak comes back! Surprisingly long.

The presence of the bourbon cask is more obvious here, and played a bigger impact. This showcases more of the creamy and floral notes, and I would even say the earthy side of the Blair Athol, too.

Nice scale: 81/100

Blair Athol 2013/2023 10YO Refill Barrique 57.7%, Lady of the Glen

3)Blair Athol 2013/2023 10YO Refill Barrique 57.7%, Lady of the Glen

Nose: Cheesy, cream. Sweet, thick and sticky. Caramel expression got swallowed up in the thick nose.

Mouth: Quick flash of figs, honey, cream, spice. Sticky, the flavours kinda all stick together in the mouth. Nuts and caramel cheese-not sure If there Is such cheese.

Finish: Oak spice.

Fully matured in a refill barrique which brings BA to an entirely new direction. Some of the distillery's character isn't lost, but 70% of the flavour are dominated by the wine. It's really getting cheesy.

Nice scale: 81/100

-Fun

I have concluded I might not be a fan of Blair Athol. So don't worry, it's just me and some of the people I know who wouldn't appreciate BA; it's just us. All are drinkable.

For the sequence, Distillate to Cask Driven, it will be 1-2-3.
